The Whitewater Gorge Park encompasses a variety of unique features, including geology and history as well as a wide variety of recreational opportunities.  A paved trail traverses the length of the gorge from South 1st Street to Test Road, allowing trail hikers and bikers to experience nature in the center of Richmond, Indiana.

The steep walls of the gorge rise above the paved section of the Whitewater Gorge Trail, with small streams tumbling over the exposed limestone and shale.
