Waynet Board Meeting
April 25, 2002

Present: WayNet Executive Board:

Minutes of previous meeting:
The minutes of the January 15, 2002 meeting of the Executive Board were reviewed. On motion of Rodger Smith and second of Amy Spears approval of the minutes was moved. By voice vote the minutes were approved.

Old Business
The Exec. Board reviewed budget performance for the first quarter of the fiscal year. Revenues slightly exceed expenses.

New Business
The Executive Director gave her report.  She noted the dramatic growth in use of WayNet during the first quarter of 2002. Quarterly figures for user sessions rose by 57% over the fourth quarter of 2001 and page views rose by 19%. Jane Holman also reported on marketing activities and inquiries about membership. She believes the advertising is helping generate site visits as well as membership inquiries.

Committee Reports
Marketing/Public Relations - 1/15/2002
A proposal was put forward to have a tent at the Wayne County Fair at which we sell digital photographs. The photographs would have a line on them indicating that they are from WayNet. Questions were raised about some details. Jane will explore details such as availability and cost of tent and how we might handle the photographs.

Technology Committee - 1/15/2002
Randy Baker reported that the Technology Committee wants input on their planning for a WayNet server and the development of server services which we might provide. The Committee will continue to work to develop a detailed plan.

Mission/Programs - 4/25/02 | 1/15/2002
Tom Kirk reported that the Committee had not met since the last Exec. Committee meeting. However representatives of WayNet met with representatives of Richmond Art Museum, Wayne County Historical Museum and Earlham Art Department. They discussed the development of a cooperative project to inaugurate a section of the WayNet web site on Wayne County history and culture. The initial section will focus on deceased artists. The Committee plans to bring a proposal to the Exec. Board at its July meeting that will request funds from the Wayne County Foundation.

The Exec. Board discussed whether to continue the annual "WayNet Web Awards" program and agreed to do so.

The Exec. Board discussed the scheduling of future meetings. The Board agreed to maintain the current schedule of quarterly meetings and revisit the issue at the end of the year.

The meeting adjourned at 1:15 pm.
