Board Meeting Minutes - January 16, 2014

Call to Order:

President Jenie Lahmann called the meeting to order at 12:00 pm at Morrison Reeves Library. She took a moment to inform the board that Saturday, January 18th marks the kick-off of events to celebrate the library's 150th anniversary

The meeting minutes from the November 22, 2013 meeting were presented for approval. Rob Tidrow motioned approval of the minutes as presented, seconded by Randy Baker and the motion passed.

Old Business:

The balance sheet was distributed and discussed, showing financials for November and December 2013. She noted financials show we are down $644.18, but said we expect a Platinum member's payment of $2500 to be forthcoming. Pam Merchanthouse motioned approval of the financials. Tim Love seconded the motion and it passed unanimously.

New Business:

Open Board Position

Jenie introduced nominee Lynn Knight. All present board members then introduced themselves to Lynn. The motion to bring Lynn Knight onto the board of directors to fulfill the balance of Dudley Fetzer's term (2013-2014) was set forth by Pam Merchanthouse and Gary Arndts second the motion. It passed unanimously. Welcome, Lynn! We are excited to have you join our team!

Executive Director's Report

Jane Holman delivered the Executive Director's Report and numerous topics were discussed, including information on membership changes, an update on the Wayne County Connections show and prospective guest list and confirmed a taped show with Congressman Luke Messer. Mrs. Holman mentioned there are 1,014 followers on WayNet Twitter and 649 people "liked" our Facebook page; a 9% increase.

Mrs. Holman discussed a proposal for Word Press installation and stated an offer has been made to install the software in exchange for sponsorship level membership for one year. Mrs. Holman said she has a few details to work out before bringing this to the board for a vote. She continued with information regarding activities of her office, including the need to do a system restore in December, work on balancing the budget with the library and installed a widget on the weather page. Also updated the quiz page and demonstrated how it works.

Mrs. Lahmann complimented Jane on the fact that she keeps Waynet looking fresh and new, and it offers links to local events, and Jane does a good job and uses good taste. Mr. Tidrow asked about Waynet utilizing Pinterest, stating it could be a good use of our photos, and is used by RCS, and seems to have a growing number of followers.

Adjournment:

Being no further business, Tim Love motioned to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Richard Peterson and the meeting adjourned at 1:42 p.m.
