Old Business

Because we did not hold our December meeting, the October minutes and notes from the November Board Retreat will be reviewed at our next meeting. January 11th is the end of the pay period and Waynet no longer has the funds to sustain employment for our executive director, Jane Holman. Therefore, starting January 12th, Jane will be a furloughed employee. Dakota Collins will answer any questions while Jane is away.

New Business

Balance Sheet Review

We reviewed the year-end income and expenses on the balance sheet and our current financial status. Richard Peterson made a motion to approve the balance sheet and Chris Mopps seconded. All were in favor.

2019 Goals, Timeline and General Discussion:

Dakota Collins and Jane Holman met with the representatives from the City of Richmond. They purchased $500+ in pictures, will up their membership to the $2,500 level and make a one-time gift of $2,500. They also met with representatives of the Wayne Co. Government to request funds to little avail. County Council will be approached to ask for an increase in membership level. Roger Smith, former Board member, is on this Council.

Projecting income and expenses, with the above income for this year, it looks like We could have in excess of $3,500 at year-end 2019.

Dakota Collins called an emergency meeting of the executive committee to discuss options for early invoicing and fund-raising tactics. Site redevelopment, reviewing membership structures, enticing current members to buy up to the next level, and devise a plan going forward were some of the other topics of conversation.

A lengthy discussion was held on various topics as follows:

  1. What do we do really well? What is our vision going forward?
  2. Should we create higher membership levels?
  3. How can we increase the value of WayNet?
  4. Maybe a focus group to help with rebranding should happen soon – Dakota will start this process ASAP.
  5. Should we change our name? May be hard to come up with a new name
  6. #1 draw is our calendar
  7. Unpaid internship through Earlham – this might be an option
  8. Need a kick start/Go Fund me page to raise money?
  9. Names were discussed – Q7, Ashley Sieb, Lauralee Hites, Megan Sanders, Forward Wayne Co.
  10. Tim Love talked to Wetzels—good possibility as a new member.
  11. Need a timeline for a mobil friendly website and desktop version. Irongate is a good contact to accomplish this for us.
  12. First Bank may be a source for a complimentary billboard.

Once we receive the funds from the City of Richmond, the executive committee will make the decision to reinstate Jane Holman's employment.

Next Meeting:

Our next meeting will be Thursday, February 21, at noon at the Morrisson-Reeves Library (updated: now at the Richmond City Building Community Room).

Adjournment:

There being no further business Tim Love asked for a motion to adjourn. Chris Mopps seconded. All approved and the meeting was adjourned at 1:10 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Pam Merchanthouse
