Faith, Resolved,” a tapestry woven for Reid Hospital & Health Care Services by Chicago artist Anne McGinn, has been installed in the hospital’s main lobby.

The work, commissioned in 2006 by the New Reid Art Committee, was expected in August 2007, according to Randy Kirk, Reid vice president.  Kirk added that Ms. McGinn had suffered numerous personal health setbacks and had enlisted an apprentice in recent months to help complete her vision.

‘Faith, Resolved’ is derived from the landscapes of Wayne County,” according to McGinn.  “The forms and colors are exaggerated, abstracted into myriad resolutions.  The obvious areas of diagonal contrast were resolved as they were woven; darkness at the left resolving to light at right.”

The central panel evokes a natural trinity; the right panel, one thriving element colored by light, McGinn wrote of her work.

At 14 feet 6 inches long and 6 feet, 8 inches deep, the tapestry in its vibrant colors commands attention from any point in the lobby, noted Jason Troutwine, Reid foundation director.

“It serves as a wonderful focal point for Reid’s healing environment and, as art, will be a marvel for years to come,” he said.
